Digital Production Operator

Primary responsibility consists of operating digital production machinery, including computers and programmable devices to produce printed products. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within this field. Position reports to the Plant Manager/Shift Supervisor.

 

Salary Range: $33,000-$46,000 annually 

 

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have knowledge in set up and operation of digital presses, in line and offline book binding equipment as well as the general maintenance of the equipment.

  • Printing, cutting on a guillotine knife, folding, collating, saddle stitching, gluing, taping, shrink wrapping, drilling, scoring, punching, coil binding, hand assembly of products, counting, packing, and labeling.

  • Communication with pre-press, Customer Service, Planning, and digital personnel to accomplish processing of digital orders.
  • Working on a MAC or PC workstation, Pre-flight and prepare customer files for digital process output.
  • Production output and finishing of Wide Format orders.
  • Read, understand, and follow work order instructions and pre-established guidelines to determine set up specifications and perform the functions of the job.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and terminology within the printing and bindery field (wrinkles, dog ears, scum, dry up, out off register, guide, off guide, gripper, tail of sheet, signature, and offset).
  • Enter production data into a computer-based MIS System. (EFI PACE)
  • Follow and comply with all company Quality Control procedures and policies to insure acceptable work.
  • Ability to select, inspect, compare, and confirm customer samples.
  • As a team member always assist others when needed or requested.
  • May be cross trained in other areas of the plant and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work well with others and function with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits in a manufacturing environment.

 

Job Requirements 

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • 3-4 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Reading, comprehending, and communicating work order instructions verbally and or in writing.
  • Must have essential math skills and read a ruler to 32nds and metric (mm).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely and operate and control pallet jacks and non-powered material handling equipment (hand-trucks, carts, etc.).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move between production devices to load and unload materials.
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting repetitively for extended periods of time.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed
  • Capable of working in various types of weather and non-climate-controlled environments.
